I’ve had a chance to look at quite a few different robot vacuum models and I must say I’m surprised at the variety of features that these vacuum cleaners come with; just when you think you’ve seen it all you come across a new feature that you haven’t seen before. In my time on this planet I’ve owned a few different vacuum cleaners, but I’ve never owned one that had the ability to sterilize my floors using UV light – that’s the kind of feature that you’ll find in the bObsweep robotic vacuum.
UV cleaning technology is not the only great feature that this little robot vacuum cleaner comes with, but it is certainly the most impressive. What’s also impressive is its price tag – this vacuum cleaner is currently selling for under $300, which is a great deal. When you consider all of the great features it’s packed with and its very reasonable price tag, it’s hard not to give this vacuum cleaner a second look.
It Even Has a Remote
While it may not be a big deal to have to bend over and program the unit – with this model you really don’t have to. The bObsweep actually comes with a remote control that you can use to control the unit’s movements and functions. You can use it to adjust the cleaning speed, to switch cleaning modes, and control every other aspect of this little machine’s functionality. I’m a big fan of remote controls so for me this is a really interesting feature. I had a great remote control car as a kid and when I found out this vacuum cleaner came with a remote control it instantly reminded me of that toy all those years ago. Men may grow up but we always love our toys!
Kills Germs and Other Microscopic Pests
As we’ve already covered at some length, this machine has built-in UV light technology that will actually sterilize your floors, but that’s not the only way it’s designed to combat the microscopic germs in your environment. It also comes equipped with a HEPA filter that removes sub-micron particles such as mold, dust mites, and other viruses from your environment. A standard vacuum cleaner may look like it has your house nice and clean after you use it, but there aren’t very many of them that truly clean on the microscopic level like this fantastic little machine.
When I saw a demo video of this robot vacuum cleaner in action I was a little curious as to what the tiny little bristles sticking out of the side of it were doing. It turns out these move in a constantly spinning cycle, capturing dust around the edges that otherwise wouldn’t be picked up and moving it into the path of the vacuum cleaner. It’s an innovative idea and just another example of how this little cleaner does more than you’d expect.
A Clip-On Cloth
If you’re like me you’re probably already pretty impressed with this machine’s cleaning abilities, but it also has one other feature that bears mentioning. It actually comes with a clip-on cloth that can be used for sweeping and polishing your floors – a sort of dry mop that’s great for hardwood floors and linoleum. The only drawback is that to use this feature you will have to pause the program you’re watching on TV to get up and change it, but that seems like a small price to pay for this extra feature.
Not Everyone Likes Bob
A complaint that more than one customer has had with the bObsweep is that it doesn’t do very well when trying to transition from one type of flooring to another – especially going from hardwood floors to carpet. The vacuum tends to get stuck on the lip and waste a lot of its battery power trying to figure things out. A couple of customers have also complained that the unit has difficulty returning to its base on its own, but this doesn’t seem to be a common complaint for most customers.
It Has That Wow Factor
The bObsweep PetHair Robotic Vacuum is by far one of the best robotic vacuum cleaners I’ve had the opportunity to review so far. It’s packed full of features that you won’t find on other models, such as UV sterilization, a HEPA filter, and a clip-on microfibre cloth for sweeping and mopping. What might be even more impressive is the fact that you can purchase it for less than $300 – Bob’s definitely a winner.
